Relation between Intergranular Stress of Austenite and Martensitic Transformation in TRIP Steels Revealed by Neutron Diffraction

چکیده
In situ neutron diffraction measurements of two low-alloy steels and a 304-type stainless steel during tensile creep tests were performed at room temperature. Changes in the pattern, integrated peak intensities austenite (γ), positions γ analyzed discussed to elucidate relationship between intergranular stress occurrence martensitic transformation deformation. Tensile loading experiments revealed that susceptibility depended on γ-(hkl) grains, where γ-(111) grains underwent latest. The volume fractions found decrease under an applied load but remain almost unchanged constant tests, lattice strains mostly unchanged. γ-hkl dependence was be controlled by shear levels which affected partitioning

Stress-Assisted Isothermal Martensitic Transformation Application to TRIP Steels
Low-temperature plastic flow in TRIP steels has been found to be controlled by stress-assisted isothermal martensitic transformation. For these conditions, the thermodynamics and kinetic theory of martensitic transformations leads directly to constitutive relations predicting the dependence of flow stress on temperature, strain, strain-rate, and stress-state, consistent with the observed behavi...

متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF STRAINING BEFORE AND DURING AUSTENITE TO FERRITE TRANSFORMATION ON THE FINAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SI-MN TRIP STEELS
TRIP (TRansformation- lnduced- Plasticity) behavior is a powerful mechanism to improve mechanical properties. The basis of TRIP phenomena is the transformation of retained austenite with optimum characteristics (volume fraction, stability, size and morphology) to martensite during deformation at room temperature. Accordingly, the first requirement to obtain desired TRIP effects is to produce an...

recently determined LVl~ to be 111918 J mol-I at temperatures below 1000 K, and pointed out that their experimental data were free from various 'intercept effects' which had dogged earlier investigations. Similarly, for T<1000K, they deduced '\~s=51.44Jmol-IK-I. There seem to be no data on the variation of LVl~ or ,\~s as a function of x. However, Lobo and Geigerl found that LVll: and ,\S~S do ...
متن کاملStress-induced martensitic transformations in NiTi and NiTi–TiC composites investigated by neutron diffraction
Superelastic NiTi (51.0 at.% Ni) specimens reinforced with 0, 10 and 20 vol.% TiC particles were deformed under uniaxial compression while neutron diffraction spectra were collected. The experiments yielded in-situ measurements of the thermoelastic stress-induced transformation. The evolution of austenite/martensite phase fractions and of elastic strains in the reinforcing TiC particles and the...
